Fatigue, discomfort, discouragement are merely symptoms of effort.

The Shift within.
Fatigue has a connection to dis-ease. But in this post I wanted to talk about the benign influence of tiredness and it’s overall affect on meditation. For when we are swept inside the energy of exhaustion, it is natural for us to rest. And, to seek a pause so that we can cocoon ourselves in comfort in order to allow the body to transform/transmute the energy into something positive.
This moves beyond something physical. It is an emotional and spiritual process that is natural for our evolution. As we learn to heal our old patterns and let negative thoughts and energies move through us, we shift our perception of who, what and where we are in the moment. It is if you are diving into a new ocean of energy, moving from a walking caterpillar to a fluttering butterfly.
Sometimes events catalyze “a shift” and other times, it is reflection and rest that can open the flood gates that can enable release and rejuvenation.
Moving through Negative patterns and Energies.
Unless we are made aware of a habit that drains us, it isn’t possible to move through it and use that energy for other pursuits that are more positive. Repetitive movements for instance can place someone in a meditative state. And, our patterns can be almost smudged from us noticing them or seeing how these are influencing our perception of reality.
Have you ever travelled along a road, walking or driving and suddenly realized you have travelled a distance. It is as if there has been a gap in time. When we snap out of our waking dream, we see how easy it is for the mind to run on autopilot for many details in our daily life, especially if repetitive tasks are part of your self-programming.
Simple meditation practices will sharpen your ability to focus and capture the present moment. You can train yourself to pay attention and notice these “self programs” that are running in your life. Try making small changes. Take a new route to work. Change your diet, by eliminating something or by adding something. Small shifts will improve your mindset and awareness of moving through negative patterns and energies.
“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
Alan Wilson Watts
When you feel tired and notice you’re losing your ability to focus, use simple mindfulness techniques to tune into your present energy and mindset and allow yourself to rest.
Letting the body release fatigue is essential for well-being and for gaining mental strength. Without release, you invite “more autopilot” states and tilt your body towards illness.
Fatigue, when it is benign, is a powerful transformational state that meditation and deep rest can work through with targeted relaxation techniques. Maybe it’s time to shift your patterns with a time-out. It’s ok to let yourself rest, relax and restore.
