Re-discovering Focus.

The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.

A new form of Focus.

The general view of focus is to give your undivided attention to something. But does this mean it is always associated with productivity and academic pursuits?

What does your focus look like when you are exhausted, faced with challenges [people and conditions] or flooded with emotions like joy, fear, sadness or anger?

Will you take the emotional bait or will your distraction habits win the fight for your attention?

Sometimes, the only way to achieve focus is to allow small windows of opportunity to capture your attention.

Learning to Adapt your Focus.

Run the race by slowing down. Work with what plagues you.

If you experience overwhelm, slow down and pay attention to something that you love. For instance, just a glance outside your window, observing trees wave in the breeze or by observing tiny droplets on a tree branch. The simple act of observing for a moment lets your mind relax and reset.

Automatically, you allow space for sharpened focus.  Those things that drive emotions, lack of focus and mental “fog” are under your control. Over time, the expanded moments allow pauses and greater insight into what ignites greater focus in your own life. You will see it as you become more aware of your own self, what is capturing your attention during the day that might not be in your best interest.

heart presence, how to discover this type of mindfulness.

Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”

The same conditions that can break and distort focus can be used to climb out of it. Create greater focus by mastering your attention.

Small steps are enough to catalyze “recovery” from distraction habits and install improvements in attention span, memory and focus.

Trust in your own ability to notice the “loss of momentum” by recognizing it. Take back your power of discernment. Liberate your own mind from captured attention, images, sounds, ideas and a sense of community that may invite you to fall down a scrolling rabbit hole. Stop, pause and see what is right there in front of you.  Your cup of coffee, a garden, spring flowers, plants, your pet or being mindful of your own gratitude for the moment.

Relaxation meditations are a powerful medium to reinstall focus and improve memory. Re-discover focus, it is more than an academic tool, it is an empowerment tool.
